Bio

Liz Vatovec is a visual artist and photographer based in Nashville, Tennessee. Her work explores themes of identity, transformation, and human connection through photography and sculptural forms consisting of ceramics and mixed media.

She holds a B.F.A. in Studio Art (2025 expected) and a B.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies from Austin Peay State University, both awarded summa cum laude honors. Additionally, she earned a Graduate Certificate in Grant Writing (2025 expected).

Liz’s practice merges traditional and experimental techniques, blending digital and alternative photographic processes, and works with three-dimensional forms to create immersive, multilayered visual narratives. Her work examines the fluidity of identity and how individuals navigate personal and societal expectations.

Her work has been featured in multiple juried exhibitions, including the 57th Annual Juried Student Exhibition at APSU, the Intercollegiate Ceramic Exhibition at Stifel Fine Arts Center, and UT Martin’s Bellwethers Annual Juried Exhibition. She has been recognized with awards such as 1st place in the Flora/Fauna category at the 2025 Juried Photography Exposition, 2nd place in 2D Art at Bellwethers (2024), and the Personal Expression Award at the 56th Annual Juried Student Exhibition (2024).

She was also a selected artist for the 2025 and 2024 Soundwaves Gallery at GEODIS Park in Nashville, TN. In 2023, she was awarded the CECA Student Summer Research Award for her dedication to advancing creative inquiry through her studio practice.
